Our new topic

I and my class have learnt a new topic called 'Powers of persuation.' It is about the powers of how to make poeple interested in whatever you want them to do or to buy.
We are learning about advertisement because when poeple are advertising something, they are trying to make you interested in buying the things they want you to buy. BUT, sometimes, they are even telling lies to make people get more fellings to buy it. And sometimes when you see in the television some fresh burgers or ice cream or any other junk food, it is actually made of painted kley so it looks more fresh and people wants to eat it. But when you are going there to eat the food, you will see that it is not as fresh as you saw in the television. And you will regret that you came here just to eat an old cold food. In a short form, I mean that you shouldn'd believe in every thing that the ads are telling you. But, it doesn't mean to not believe at all what the ads are saying.
We've also learnt about media and the sort of medias, like television, radio, newspaper etc. We also did a survey and a lot more about media. We found out what a logo means and we brought to class some logos. Wow!! There were a lot more of logos then what I thought there was.
I like this topic so far (when Mrs. Poonam is teaching us).

Field trip to Nandi Hills

We went to a field trip on the 5th of October. It was really fun. But I was a little bit scared when we went up the hills because it was shaky and I felt like the bus going to fall. Our teacher said that there are lots of monkeys on hills so we shouldn't show food to them or eat food when a monkey is looking at you. It might bit you and take the food away. When we arrived, I could feel fresh air coming to me. AND I could see a lot of monkeys aroud us, but they were still cute.
We went up the hills. And I could feel more and more of fresh air. We first went to a temple of 2000 years old. It was the temple of Hanuman, the monkey god. We always had to take of our shoes when we enter a temple. We took a red flower and we put a red dot on our face. And there was a statue god, Hanuman.
Then, we went to another temple. The Lord Ganesh temple. There was a bull statue on the front and we had to put a flower around his neck.
Next, we went to the temple of Shiva. It was made in Cholla dynesty and it is 852 years old. In there, a man gave us some water which we had to drink and then put it on our hair. Then we turned round and round the statue gods and then bow.
And I've learnt that Nandi means bull in Hindi.
We went to the Tipu drop. Punished poeple were thown to the Tipu drop which is 4450 feets deep. Then we went to see Nandi in statue form. It's 952 years old. Then we went in a room where people stayed for 40 days in peace. And they also prayed to god. Inscriptions were written in Canada on the walls. And the room was very dark.
Then we went to Nandi Gram. These temples in Nandi Gram were made in the 9th century A.D. And there are temples which are 12 years old. Nandi Gram was fun, too.

The Internationalism Day

It was fun on the Internationalism day. We did lots of things. First, grade 1 till our grade performed songs, dance, plays etc. Then every body went back to their class and talked about the country they chose.
I think it was a little bit unfair because other classes had about one month to get ready for the Internationalism day but only our class had about one and a half week.
In the amphiteater, the prep went first, than grade 1 (smallest grade till biggest grade). We were last. We performed the play of Sadako Sassaki (and I was Sadako), a Japanese dance (which the girls performed, including me), a karate dance ( which some of the boys did), and a sad song of Sadako. I and Hoo Joo sang in Japanese and Abhilasha and Nayantara sang in English. Next, we all went to our class and presented about Japan. I and Victoria talked about Japanese culture.
After we were done I went to other classes but I saw that in other classes, people were reading their lines even if they had one month to practice, and we had learnt our lines and talked so much even if we had 1 and half week. And sometimes they were just saying ''Read the chart''and they told nothing about what they have reasearched. And I also saw that in grade 4 that people were even putting the wrong things on!!! They were doing about China and they kept Korean clothes and saying that this is Chinese clothes. And my mom got a little bit angry with the teacher of gr. 4. So I think we were the best ones in performing or showing in whatever we did/show.

Sadako's Story

Ms.Poonam told us the story about Sadako, a young japanese girl who lived in a city called Hiroshima,Japan.Sadako was only two years old when America dropped two atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Nine years later, while Sadako was practicing for a race, she fainted and fell to the floor. Her parents were then told that thier young and active daughter was suffering from the "Atom Bomb "disease, resulting from the exposure to the radiations due to the nuclear bombs, and was going to die in a year's time.

Sadako's friend Kinji came to visit her often while Sadako lay in the hospital bed.Sadako thought all hope was lost and told her friend that she was scared of dying, and wanted to live a normal life.Kinji told her of an old Japanese legend which said that if a sick person folded a thousand paper cranes, the Gods would make him/her healthy again.

So,Sadako set off to work making a thousand paper cranes and when she died a year later at the age of twelve, she had made over a thousand paper cranes. Her friends and classmates decided to make a statue dedicated to thier close freind, Sadako.

Now,Citizens of Hiroshima fold paper cranes and put it inside Sadako's statue.I was really moved by the way Sadako never gave up and continued to fight till the end.

Sadako's story

Yesterday Ms Poonam told us about Sadako's story. It is very sad I nearly burst into tears. The story is about the bombings that happened in Japan. Millions of people died and only a few survived. Sadako was one of those who survived. After the bombings, the air in Japan was contaminated because of the chemicals.

One day their was a race and Sadako was participating. While she was warming up she fainted. Her parents got very worried and took her to the docters. The docter said she had got some kind of disease. The doctor also said that she may not live for long. Sadako was not allowed to go to school for a long time, but her friend came to visit every day after school. One day Sadako's friend came to visit and she told Sadako to make thousands of paper Cranes, because god might grant her wish for her to live longer. So she did just that.

Sadako still died while sleeping. Her family and friends were really sad. They knew she was such an active girl and enthusiastic. Every one in decided to build a memorial for her and inside hang up lots off paper cranes and that is what they did.

If that had happened to me I would have never been as active as Sadako.

Sadako's story

Mrs. Poonam told us about Sadako's story. It was a very sad story. I had tears in my eyes but I didn't want anybody to notice that (but Mrs. Poonam did).
I felt very sad for her and I think we really should have had more peace earth that time because lots of people died just because of two atom bombs. And I also think that we should also have peace NOW. I think that people who does not respect the rules of not fighting and sharing should be punished. So I wander what these presidents are doing on earth.
To have more peace on earth, we should not fight, but we should care, share, not complain, be friends and always should have a warm heart for all the people on earth. Even if you don't like them, you should learn how to like them. Even if the boys and the girls hate each other they should learn to NOT hate each other (even I have to learn how to not shout at boys).
